September Sparkles

September in New York is amazing. Everyone is back in the city and there are so many different things going on that make New York...New York: Fashion Week, running into friends at The Standard, lazy Sundays in Central Park, the North Carolina Society of New York fall cocktail party at the Racquet Club, and savoring to the last bit of warm weather before the Rockefeller Center Rink Bar turns into the Rockefeller Center Ice Skating Rink. How about a little jewelry as we head into the new season?
Diamonds and chalcedony. $348
Diamonds, hot pink rubies, and blue topaz. $515
Diamonds and emerald colored green quartz. $550

Diamonds, pink rubies, and green amethyst. $370

In case you missed it...

KTRNY did two great trunk shows in the North Carolina mountains. These mountains are a special place for me because I grew up spending summers at Camp Merrie-Woode (as did my grandmother, mother, and now all my cousins). It is accurately described as "a place of rarest beauty," and I look forward to any chance I get to visit the western part of my home state.
View from the top: Linville, NC
Three generations stopped by to help with the show and do some family birthday shopping.
Left to Right: Sarah Smith of Raleigh, NC, my roommate from summer "study" abroad in Innsbruck, Austria; grandmother Alice Inge of Mobile, AL; and mother, Debbie Cottam of High Point, NC, also friend of my mother's from a summer on Nantucket.

Cashiers, NC: almost hard to focus on the jewelry with this in the background!
 Hostess Elizabeth Rodriguez
Flowers sent by Peggy Corbitt and Katherine Daughtridge
A big thanks to everyone who came to the shows and all the people who helped out and made the shows a success!
I am back in New York taking appointments and preparing for the next trip to North Carolina--Raleigh and Winston-Salem dates TBA!

KTRNY in NC: Two Mountain Trunk Shows this Week

Kiss the Ring New York returns to North Carolina this week! At the last NC trunk show, a friend was looking for some fabulous diamond earrings and I asked if she had an event coming up. Without skipping a beat, she responded, "My life is an event." I couldn't agree more. This week, I will be doing two trunk shows in the mountains so it is the perfect time to get your jewelry for upcoming fall events or just because.

KTR Returns to NY After a Trip to the South of France

I did a little jewelery shopping in St. Paul de Vence...
Had a Bellini at the Hotel du Cap...
Took the KTRNY tote bag to the beach in Cap Ferrat...
...and a cafe in St. Tropez.
Caught up with old friend Brenton...and let her borrow my necklace
 Bonded with mother...
and fell in love with the vista!
A little champagne...
A little cheese in Grasse...
A giant pot of mussels...
 We saw some yachts...
Checked out the real estate...
...and some of the local fashions.
Au revoir!

Trend Alert: Wood & Gold Jewelry

I think most people know that I love all kinds of jewelry. I just never get tired of looking at beautiful things! I have always been a fan of both costume and fine jewelry. I think that there is definitely an elegant way to combine the two, and my friends seem to do a great job of it. I have several costume pieces that I cherish and will keep in my jewelry wardrobe for years, but some of the trendy costume pieces at Henri Bendel (don't get me wrong--I LOVE Bendel's) are insanely over-priced. It gets to the point where you could buy a real piece that won't turn your skin green for the same amount!

One of my all-time favorite pieces of jewelry is this gorgeous handmade Italian 18 karat yellow gold and ebony link necklace. It offers the fine jewelry aspect with the beautiful gold work and the stylish design aspect of the hand carved wooden links. I have worn this necklace on so many occasions because it goes with everything from jeans to black tie. It is one of the most versatile and chic pieces of jewelry I have ever seen, and its classic, clean and sophisticated look will really go the distance.

The double length necklace can be worn long or doubled up with the clasp.

Coming soon! This version is shorter in length, and makes a statement with these fabulous chunkier links.  Jackie O. had one just like it! Well, it looks like she would have anyway...

Don't forget earrings!

Martha Stewart OTT Queen of DIY on KTRNY

Martha Stewart seems to be able to do anything: cooking, crafts, gardening, prison...you name it. I have never really been much of a fan since I'm not really into the "do-it-yourself" thing, but I will say this lady is talented! I do love looking at Martha Stewart Weddings magazine, you know, for work...

These pictures from marthastewartweddings.com show so many different kinds of engagement rings. Delish!
Why hello, number 4!

There is even a place on the website where you can upload a picture of your own ring with your engagement story and other people rate your ring and make comments. There are some pretty rings and a lot more "interesting" (okay, heinous) rings. See the rings and the French manicures for yourself here.

KTRNY at the CBC

The KTRNY trunk show at the beach was a huge success--it was great to bring the diamond district to the crystal coast. I grew up going to the Coral Bay Club every summer and it was so nice to see people who have known me since I was "this big" [hold hand palm down two feet off the floor]. A lot of people found some fabulous jewels to take home, and I am already looking forward to next year's show!

A little wine to loosen up that credit card wrist? (Lilies courtesy of HBH's garden)
Yes, the bracelet IS that divine. It can be yours for $9625.
My lovely assistant hard at work (or, more likely g-chat).
Don't worry if you missed the show; I am scheduling dates for the NC mountains in August then Raleigh and Winston-Salem in November. xoxo, H

A KTRNY Beach Preview for the Ladies

This afternoon, I had some VIPs come over for a private preview showing of some pieces that will be at next week's Coral Bay Club show. I spent the whole morning getting ready: putting the hydrangeas on the mantle, arranging the jewelry, determining a lighting scheme (bright) and soundtrack (Cole Porter), and stocking the bar--I knew Peggy would want a little Pinot Grigio.
